Small Steps. Big Impact.

—The Coffee Project—

At Maastricht University alone, an estimated 422,240 hot drinks are consumed annually.

That’s roughly 1,100 drinks a day.

How many of those drinks are non-reusable cups?

Answer…. 4.64 metric tons of annual hot beverage by-product trash at UM.

It takes about 50 years until a paper cup is broken down in the landfill.

This Project aims to spread Social Responsibility and awareness of our environmental footprint through the use of reusable coffee cups.

Follow our Progress.

What’s next? How do limit our footprint as a university?

  1. Spread Awareness “Bring your reusables”

Easiest way to eliminate non-reusables is to use Reusables!

Go check out our digital posters on all 92 self-service Coffee Machines!

2. Bring alternatives to the table

A refund coffee cup system can help minimize our University’s trash problem. As easy as a 1 Euro refund cup can help eliminate 4.4 tons of trash each year!

Come check out Billie Cup and their refund system that will soon come to Maastricht.
